What Hotels & Hospitality usually need
One primary standard and the two that most often accompany it in this segment. Each links to its own page with the clauses, documented information and audit detail.
India has a thriving market in ISO certificates that were never audited. They cost less, arrive faster and fail at exactly the moment they matter.
The right standard first
We read the actual clause your buyer wrote before recommending anything. Certifying to the wrong standard is the most expensive mistake in this process.
Accredited bodies only
Certification bodies accredited against ISO/IEC 17021-1 by NABCB or another IAF signatory, with ISO 9001 confirmed inside their accredited scope for your sector.
Gap analysis before commitment
A clause-by-clause gap register before you agree a timeline or an audit fee. Most organisations already meet 40 to 60 percent of the standard.
The full 3-year cycle
Surveillance audits tracked, preparation handled and nonconformities closed, so the certificate is never suspended.

Overview
ISO certification for Hotels & Hospitality in Hosur
Key takeaway
For hotels & hospitality in Hosur, the standard buyers ask for is usually ISO 9001:2015. ISO 9001 is the international standard for a quality management system. It asks you to define your processes, decide what "good" looks like for each of them, measure whether you are hitting it, and act on the gap. It is sector neutral, which is why it is both the most widely held management system certificate in the world and the one Indian tender documents name most often. Certification typically takes 3 to 8 weeks, is valid for three years with annual surveillance audits, and starts at an IncorpX professional fee of ₹4,999.

What triggers itCorporate and travel-partner supplier standards

ISO certification is third-party confirmation that your management system meets an ISO standard. It is voluntary in law and compulsory in commerce: nothing requires hotels & hospitality to hold one, but tenders, OEM approvals, enterprise procurement and export buyers routinely do. The certificate is issued by an independent certification body after a two-stage audit, never by ISO and never by a consultant.
For hotels & hospitality the practical question is never the theory but the trigger. Certification is almost always started because of corporate and travel-partner supplier standards. Identifying that trigger tells you the standard, the scope and the deadline at the same time, which is why we ask to see the actual wording before recommending anything.
Because clauses 4 to 10 are shared across the ISO management system standards, adding a second standard later costs far less than the first. Hotels & hospitality that expect to need ISO 22000 and ISO 50001 as well are usually better off planning an integrated management system from the start than certifying one standard at a time.
Send us the clause, not the standard number
Buyers are often imprecise. A purchase order asking for "ISO/TS" means IATF 16949, because ISO/TS 16949 was withdrawn in 2016. A questionnaire asking for an "ISO 17025 certificate" means a NABL accredited laboratory, not a certification body. A request for "ISO 27001 with privacy" usually means ISO/IEC 27701 on top. Forwarding the exact wording is faster than guessing, and it avoids certifying to the wrong standard.
Other standards
The rest of the ISO catalogue
If a buyer has named something outside the three above, we support it through the same process. Every standard here shares clauses 4 to 10 with the one you certify first.
Nine stages. The last two are set by ISO/IEC 17021-1 and are the same whichever standard you certify against.
01
Gap analysis against the standard
We audit what you already do against every auditable clause of ISO 9001 and hand back a gap register, not a sales document. Most organisations are already meeting 40 to 60 percent of the requirements without having written them down.
02
Scope, context and risk
Fix the certification scope in writing, the sites, processes and exclusions it covers, then build the clause 4 context, interested parties and the risk register that the auditor will trace everything else back to.
03
Documented information
Policy, objectives, process maps, procedures and the records each clause requires. We supply working templates and adapt them to how you actually operate, because an auditor tests the system you run, not the one you filed.
04
Implementation and training
Roll the system out across the departments in scope and run awareness training, plus competence training for the people who will hold specific responsibilities. Keep attendance and competence records; they are audited.
05
Internal audit
A full internal audit covering every clause and every process in scope, by someone independent of the work being audited. Findings are logged as nonconformities and closed with corrective action, and this evidence is mandatory before a certification body will proceed.
06
Management review
Top management formally reviews performance against the standard's required inputs: audit results, objectives, nonconformities, feedback and improvement opportunities. Minutes are a stage 1 audit deliverable.
07
Stage 1 audit (readiness)
The certification body reviews your documentation, confirms the scope, checks your internal audit and management review are real, and identifies what it will focus on in stage 2. Findings here are usually fixable in days.
08
Stage 2 audit (implementation)
An on-site or remote audit of the system in operation: interviews, records and evidence sampled against each clause. Major nonconformities must be closed before a recommendation for certification; minors are closed within an agreed window.
09
Certificate issued, then maintained
The certification body issues a certificate with a three-year cycle. Surveillance audits follow in years one and two, and a recertification audit before the third anniversary. Miss a surveillance audit and the certificate can be suspended or withdrawn.
Check accreditation before you buy a certificate
ISO writes standards. It does not audit anyone, does not issue certificates and does not permit its logo to be used on one, so any certificate that presents itself as issued by ISO is wrong on its face. A certificate is worth what its accreditation is worth. In India the accreditation body is the National Accreditation Board for Certification Bodies (NABCB), which operates under the Quality Council of India, accredits certification bodies against ISO/IEC 17021-1, and is a signatory to the IAF Multilateral Recognition Arrangement, which is what makes an Indian certificate acceptable abroad. Before signing, ask for the certification body's accreditation number, confirm the standard and scope are inside its accredited scope, and verify the certificate on the accreditation body's directory or on IAF CertSearch. A certificate issued in 24 hours with no audit is not a certificate a tender committee, an OEM or an enterprise security review will accept.

ISO standards compared: scope, sector fit, timeline and IncorpX professional fee
Certifying two standards together is cheaper than certifying them twice
Because clauses 4 to 10 are shared, a combined audit covers the common management system once rather than three times. Certification bodies price it accordingly, and you maintain one context analysis, one internal audit programme and one management review instead of three. For hotels & hospitality the usual combination is ISO 9001, ISO 22000, ISO 50001. Listed amounts are IncorpX professional charges for end-to-end assistance. Certification body audit fees, accreditation charges and any travel are billed separately at actuals, and are paid to the certification body, not to IncorpX.

ISO certification for Hotels & Hospitality: frequently asked questions
16 questions answered against the standards and the ISO/IEC 17021-1 certification rules as they stand in August 2026.
For hotels & hospitality the standard most often asked for is ISO 9001:2015, the Quality Management System. Consistency of your products and services, and how you correct things when they go wrong. The two that most commonly accompany it in this segment are ISO 22000 and ISO 50001. The trigger is usually corporate and travel-partner supplier standards, so the fastest way to be certain is to read the exact wording your buyer, tender document or vendor questionnaire used.
No. No Indian law requires an ISO certificate for hotels & hospitality. It becomes commercially compulsory rather than legally so: it appears as an eligibility criterion in tenders, as a condition in vendor registration, and as a gate in buyer due diligence. Licences are a different thing, and where a licence applies to hotels & hospitality it remains legally mandatory to operate regardless of whether you hold an ISO certificate.
Two separate costs, paid to two different parties. The IncorpX professional fee for ISO 9001 starts at ₹4,999. The certification body audit fee is quoted separately by the certification body, based on audit days calculated from your effective headcount, the number of sites in scope and the risk category your sector falls into under the IAF mandatory documents. Listed amounts are IncorpX professional charges for end-to-end assistance. Certification body audit fees, accreditation charges and any travel are billed separately at actuals, and are paid to the certification body, not to IncorpX.
Typically 3 to 8 weeks, driven by how much of the system already exists rather than by the size of your business. The stage that most often stretches the timeline is the internal audit: certification bodies will not schedule stage 2 without evidence of a completed internal audit and management review, and organisations routinely lose four to six weeks discovering that after booking an audit date.
Yes, and it is usually cheaper. Clauses 4 to 10 are shared across the ISO management system standards, so an integrated management system runs one context analysis, one risk register, one internal audit programme, one management review and one corrective action process across all of them. Certification bodies price a combined audit below the sum of separate audits. For hotels & hospitality the common combination is ISO 9001, ISO 22000, ISO 50001.
The shared skeleton across the family: the scope statement, the policy, measurable objectives, the context and interested parties analysis, the risk and opportunity register, process documentation for what you actually do, competence and training records, the internal audit programme and reports, management review minutes, and nonconformity and corrective action records. ISO 9001 then adds its own, listed on the ISO 9001 page.
Three years from issue, and it is not passive for those three years. The certification body conducts a surveillance audit in year one and again in year two, and a fuller recertification audit before the third anniversary. Missing a surveillance audit is the most common way organisations lose a certificate: it can be suspended and then withdrawn, and a withdrawn certificate means restarting the cycle rather than resuming it.
Read the certificate first: it must name the certification body, the accreditation body and its accreditation number, the standard with its edition year, the certified scope, the sites covered and the expiry date. Then check the accreditation body's directory, for India the NABCB list. Confirm the standard and your sector are inside that body's accredited scope, because accreditation is granted per standard and per sector. Finally, search IAF CertSearch.
No. ISO develops and publishes standards. It does not audit organisations, does not issue certificates and does not permit its logo on one. Every legitimate certificate carries the name and mark of the certification body that issued it and, where accredited, the mark of the accreditation body. Any certificate presenting itself as issued by ISO tells you what you need to know about it.
Yes. The standards are applied proportionately, so a 10-person business documents a 10-person business's processes. Audit duration is calculated from effective headcount under the IAF mandatory documents, so a small organisation is audited for fewer days and pays a smaller audit fee. The usual failure is copying a large company's manual, which then falls apart at stage 2 when the auditor asks for records of processes that do not exist.
Audits are not pass or fail in the usual sense. A major nonconformity is the absence of a required process, or a failure that breaks the system's ability to deliver its intended results, and must be closed with verified corrective action before certification can be recommended. A minor nonconformity is an isolated lapse, closed through a corrective action plan within an agreed window, commonly up to 90 days, and does not block the certificate.
It frequently determines whether a bid is evaluated at all, because ISO 9001 in particular appears in eligibility criteria for government, PSU and GeM tenders. Three things have to line up: the certificate must be from an accredited certification body, the scope on the certificate must cover the work being tendered, and it must be valid on the bid date. A scope that does not cover the tendered activity gets a bid rejected as surely as no certificate at all.
We handle the implementation side and coordinate the audit; the certificate is issued by an independent accredited certification body, never by us. Assistance covers standard selection for your segment and your buyers, a gap analysis against every auditable clause, scope drafting, context and risk register, documented information, awareness and competence training, internal audit and management review support, certification body selection and quotation comparison, audit coordination, nonconformity closure, and surveillance support through the three-year cycle.
No. An accredited certification body can certify an organisation anywhere in India, and most operate through regional offices and auditor networks rather than a branch in every city. Shortlist on accreditation rather than proximity: confirm the body holds NABCB accreditation, or accreditation from another IAF Multilateral Recognition Arrangement signatory, and that ISO 9001 and your sector are inside its accredited scope. The only genuinely local line item is auditor travel to your Hosur site, billed at actuals.
Not materially. Certification body fees are quoted in audit days, calculated from your effective headcount, sites and sector risk category under the IAF mandatory documents, and those inputs do not vary by city. What does vary is auditor travel where the audit is on site, and whether the audit can be conducted remotely at all: a services business in Hosur can often be audited largely remotely, while a plant or a warehouse will see an auditor on site for stage 2.
For ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 the compliance obligations register must cite the statutes, state rules and consent conditions that actually bind your Hosur site, not a generic national list. That register is the one genuinely location-specific piece of the system, and an auditor will test it against what applies to you in Tamil Nadu rather than against a template.
