About this scheme
WeaveX is a sector-focused incubation programme by IIM Kozhikode Live (IIMK Live), designed to support startups working across the textile value chain, from sustainable materials and smart manufacturing to supply chain optimisation and textile recycling. The programme selects 10 companies per year and offers grants of up to Rs. 50 lakh per startup, alongside mentorship, industry connects, and investor access.
The programme targets twelve focus domains: textile waste management, sustainable fabrics, AI-based quality inspection, supply chain transparency, water optimisation, smart wearables, open innovation in textiles, textile recycling marketplaces, energy efficiency, anti-counterfeiting and traceability, MSME automation, and e-commerce fit solutions. This coverage spans both hardware and software innovation in textiles, from biodegradable material development and industrial water reuse to AI defect detection systems and digital product authentication.
WeaveX is open to a wide range of applicants: early-stage startups at the idea or prototype stage, growth-stage ventures looking to scale, individual innovators with validated concepts, and teams focusing on sustainability and the circular economy. Incorporated and unincorporated entities are both eligible, and prior funding history is not a criterion.
Programme offerings include expert mentorship, technical guidance, business strategy support, market access facilitation, and investor network access, structured to help textile startups refine their offerings and accelerate commercialisation within the evolving textile ecosystem. The programme is backed by IIM Kozhikode's institutional network, which has a track record of supporting funded ventures and alumni-led companies across its innovation programmes.
India's textile sector, the second largest employer in the country, is undergoing significant transformation driven by sustainability mandates, export market requirements, and technology adoption in MSMEs. WeaveX is one of the few India-based incubation programmes specifically focused on this sector, making it particularly relevant for founders building at the intersection of textile manufacturing, sustainability, and technology.

- Startups with a sustainability or circular economy focus are particularly encouraged
