About this scheme

The Toilet Board Coalition Accelerator is a 12-month virtual program now in its eleventh year, designed to accelerate businesses building solutions in the sanitation economy. The Coalition matches entrepreneurs with global business leaders, corporate mentors, and investors to drive progress toward SDG 6, sanitation for all. To date, the program has supported 111 SMEs, impacting over 13 million lives daily and unlocking $49 million in finance for alumni.

The 2027 cohort accepts applications from SMEs operating in emerging markets across Asia (including India), Africa, and Latin America. Selected ventures receive 12 months of expert support, business model coaching, corporate mentorship from multinational partners, and access to investment. The program runs entirely virtually. Applications close April 30, 2026; the programme begins in January 2027.

Who can apply

• The startup must be an SME operating in an emerging market, including India and other countries across Asia, Africa, and Latin America.
• The startup must have a scalable, commercially viable business model that delivers sanitation solutions in new, customer-centric ways.
• The startup's product or service must be part of the Sanitation Economy , solutions addressing sanitation access, hygiene, waste management, or related WASH challenges.
• The offering must be innovative, replicable, and proven with demonstrated traction; the program is not suited for early-concept or pre-revenue ideas.
• Startups must be serving low-income or underserved customers as a core part of their business model, with evidence of real-world deployment or commercial viability.
• The program is virtual and open internationally; there are no restrictions based on the founder's country of residence or incorporation, provided the business operates in an eligible emerging market.
• Indian startups working in urban or rural sanitation, community hygiene, waste-to-value solutions, or WASH infrastructure are specifically encouraged to apply, as India falls within the Asia emerging market category explicitly covered by this program.
