About SINE, IIT Bombay
Founded in 2004 at IIT Bombay, SINE, the Society for Innovation and Entrepreneurship, is the institute's technology business incubator and one of the earliest academic incubators in the country, with a foundational role in India's deep-tech scene. It offers incubation infrastructure, mentorship, funding support, and access to IIT Bombay's research labs and faculty.
Its portfolio of 245-plus startups has together raised more than $940 million and produced over 300 intellectual properties. To put capital directly behind early deep tech, SINE launched the Y Point Venture Capital Fund with a corpus of about Rs. 250 crore, investing in ventures from IIT Bombay and other research institutions across AI, advanced manufacturing, life sciences, climate technology, and space and defence; its alumni include Gupshup, ideaForge, Atomberg, Bellatrix Aerospace, and Whiterabbit.ai.
Deep-tech founders, IIT Bombay students and alumni, and researchers commercialising technology innovations benefit most, especially ideation-to-early-traction teams in AI, advanced materials, healthcare, cleantech, and defence. It is online at sineiitb.org.
