Its Prime Minister's Employment Generation Programme (PMEGP) is a credit-linked subsidy scheme run by the Khadi and Village Industries Commission, providing margin money through banks for manufacturing units of up to Rs. 25 lakh and service units of up to Rs. 10 lakh. Since launching in 2008, it has assisted more than 9.69 lakh micro enterprises with subsidy exceeding Rs. 25,500 crore, generating an estimated 79 lakh jobs.
