Maruti Suzuki India Limited is the country's largest passenger-car manufacturer, founded in 1981 as a joint venture between the Government of India and Suzuki Motor Corporation. Headquartered in Gurugram, with plants in Gurugram and Manesar, it sells over 1.5 million vehicles a year and holds a dominant share of the Indian passenger-vehicle market.
It launched its corporate startup programme in 2019 as MAIL, the Maruti Suzuki Innovation Lab, later rebranded as the Maruti Suzuki Accelerator. The programme looks for startups solving problems across automotive manufacturing, sales, aftermarket services, and connected mobility, and runs as a structured, cohort-based accelerator with paid proof-of-concept engagements. It accepts startups working on AI, big-data analytics, blockchain, connected cars, digital twins, AR and VR, autonomous mobility, and IoT, giving selected teams mentoring from senior leadership, access to real manufacturing and dealership environments for piloting, and paid POC contracts, alongside periodic innovation challenges tied to specific problem statements in supply chain, customer experience, and factory automation.
Startups that have come through include Metadome, Rezo.ai, Vicara, Xane AI, AMLGO Labs, Ravity, Automaxis, and DaveAI, while Clean Slate recorded an exit in March 2022. Technology startups at the validation and early-revenue stages building for automotive manufacturing, connected mobility, supply chain, customer experience, and factory automation benefit most, and the paid-POC model is especially attractive for B2B startups chasing enterprise revenue.
