AIC IIT Delhi, formally the IIT Delhi Sonipat Innovation Foundation, is a not-for-profit Section-8 company at the IIT Delhi Technopark in Sonipat, Haryana, funded by the Atal Innovation Mission under NITI Aayog. It is one of the better-known incubators in the AIC network and a sister entity to IIT Delhi's longer-running platforms, FITT and IHFC.
With AIM's support, the centre has built more than 10,000 sq ft of incubation space at the Technopark. The facility houses a fully equipped makerspace with current fabrication equipment, design, metal-fabrication, and woodworking labs, wet labs and chemistry workstations, and co-working desks, meeting rooms, and pitch rooms, with shared access to IIT Delhi's broader research labs through faculty co-supervision.
Its programmes run on three tracks. The Incubation Programme offers 12 to 24 months of support for technology-driven startups, ideally within their first five years, with grants, makerspace access, mentoring, IIT Delhi faculty connections, and corporate-pilot opportunities. The Pre-Incubation Programme is a three-month sprint that helps student entrepreneurs and aspiring founders validate a problem and build an MVP before formal incubation. Periodic sector cohorts run in deep-tech, climate, healthcare, and defence.
The focus is firmly on deep-tech: hardware, robotics, defence and aerospace, semiconductors, healthtech, medtech, agri-machinery, IoT, advanced materials, and climate hardware. Applications are open nationally, with priority for technology-led startups working on novel products or processes, ventures within five years of inception, and IIT Delhi students, alumni, and faculty-led teams. Selected startups receive milestone-linked AIM seed grants of Rs. 10 lakh to Rs. 50 lakh, with possible top-ups through partner schemes such as BIRAC, DST NIDHI-PRAYAS, and Defence iDEX.
