Under the structure of the Grant-in-Aid Program, NSTEP offers pivotal financial assistance as a non-repayable grant, with funding opportunities reaching up to Rs. 4 Lakhs for eligible student innovators and research scholars. This grant is designed to cover essential expenditures during the nascent stages of venture development. Eligible uses for these funds include crucial initial research activities, sophisticated prototyping and product development to transform concepts into tangible products, securing vital intellectual property rights such as patents or trademarks, purchasing necessary raw materials and consumables for product testing, and managing other foundational operational costs like laboratory fees, testing charges, or initial marketing expenses. The objective is to efficiently propel early-stage, millet-centric ventures from conceptualization through to the development of a demonstrable proof-of-concept or a minimal viable product (MVP), setting a strong groundwork for future commercialization and market entry.

• Applications are invited from students and research scholars currently enrolled in recognized academic institutions across India.
• Projects must be distinctly focused on millet-based innovations and startups. This includes, but is not limited to, new product development, process innovation, value-added products, supply chain improvements, or technology solutions related to millets. The innovation should aim to address challenges or create new opportunities within the millet ecosystem, contributing to food security, farmer livelihoods, or consumer health.
