About this scheme
The DST-iTBI Ignition Grant is a prototype-stage grant offered by the Greenovator Incubation Foundation (GIF), NIT Srinagar , an Inclusive Technology Business Incubator (iTBI) backed by the Department of Science and Technology (DST) under the NIDHI Scheme. Cohort 3.0 invites applications from innovators and early-stage startups working on science and technology-based ideas with strong commercialization potential.
Selected innovators receive a prototype grant of up to Rs. 10 lakh to develop and validate their solution, alongside structured incubation support: mentorship and technical guidance, prototype development assistance, co-working space and lab facilities at NIT Srinagar, networking opportunities and market validation help.
The programme prioritises ideas in healthcare and MedTech, GreenTech and CleanTech, artificial intelligence, deep tech, sustainability, and emerging technology domains , with thematic breadth across agriculture and horticulture tech, smart mobility, and adjacent science-driven sectors.
Selection runs through a structured pipeline: application submission, shortlisting, pitching to the GIF panel, panel evaluation, and grant award. The initiative is designed to help science-and-tech innovators in and around the Kashmir region , and beyond , convert ideas into prototypes and prototypes into ventures.
Who can apply
- Individual innovator(s) or early-stage startup with a science or technology-based idea
- Idea-to-prototype stage
- Indian applicant; willing to engage with the GIF (NIT-SRI) incubator for the prototype phase
- Idea must align with one of the focus areas (healthcare / MedTech, GreenTech / CleanTech, AI, deep tech, sustainability, emerging technologies, or adjacent science-driven domains)
- Applicant must commit to abide by GIF (NIT-SRI) rules and provide accurate information; misrepresentation can lead to disqualification or termination of incubation
