About VJTI TBI Foundation
VJTI TBI Foundation is a technology business incubator established in 2017 at the Veermata Jijabai Technological Institute (VJTI) in Mumbai, with support from the Department of Science and Technology under its NIDHI programme. VJTI is one of India's oldest engineering colleges, founded in 1887, and the incubator builds on that legacy to support technology-driven startups in cleantech, IoT, cybersecurity, and allied fields.
It works as a bridge between VJTI's academic research and the startup ecosystem, giving early ventures infrastructure, mentorship, technical resources, and connections to funding, and drawing on the institute's engineering faculty and labs to help solve technical problems and build market-ready products, while serving as a gateway to DST-NIDHI and other central grants. Its structured incubation typically runs 18 to 24 months, with co-working space on campus, mentoring from faculty and industry experts, seed funding through NIDHI Prayas and other DST schemes, and IP-filing help, alongside pre-incubation workshops, hackathons, and industry partnerships for pilots, testing, and market access.
