The NCPEDP, Mphasis AT Hub is a landmark effort by the National Centre for Promotion of Employment for Disabled People (NCPEDP) and the Mphasis F1 Foundation to grow India's assistive-technology ecosystem. It is the country's first dedicated hub for incubating, funding, and scaling startups that build devices, software, and services for persons with disabilities.
NCPEDP, founded in 1996, is one of India's foremost disability-rights organisations, working across policy advocacy, corporate engagement, and social entrepreneurship for the inclusion of persons with disabilities, while the Mphasis F1 Foundation is the CSR arm of the global IT firm Mphasis. Together they launched the hub to address persistent gaps in the AT landscape, from thin funding and siloed efforts to low awareness and limited market access. Its support runs to seed grants of up to Rs. 5 lakh per startup to refine, test, and scale solutions, with 16 startups receiving grants at the Empower 2024 event; capacity building covering product design, costing, market access, and regulatory pathways; ecosystem connections to a network that includes ALIMCO, Microsoft, STPI, AssisTech Foundation, and IIIT-Bangalore; and visibility through policy forums, pitch days, and multi-stakeholder events. Its focus spans mobility and physical-access devices, communication and augmentative and alternative communication tools, visual and hearing-impairment solutions, cognitive and learning support, and digital accessibility.
