About FITT, IIT Delhi
The Foundation for Innovation and Technology Transfer (FITT) is a registered society set up on 9 July 1992 by the Board of Governors of IIT Delhi, and it is the institute's primary interface for industry collaboration, technology transfer, and startup incubation. Having incubated over 280 startups, including 200-plus deep-tech ventures, and facilitated more than Rs. 450 crore in cumulative funding, it is among India's most established academic incubators, and it also runs the IIT Delhi Research and Innovation Park, home to roughly 100 startups.
FITT works at the meeting point of academic research and commercial innovation, managing IIT Delhi's technology licensing, industry-sponsored research, and incubation programmes. For founders it offers a rare mix of access to IIT Delhi's labs, faculty, and engineering talent alongside structured incubation, mentorship, funding routes, co-working space, and investor networks. Its key programmes include the FITT Incubation Program with office and co-working space at the Idea Lounge, the Research and Innovation Park hosting around 100 startups and R&D labs, corporate innovation partnerships with companies such as Boeing and Samsung, and an annual Business Plan Competition, plus technology licensing that matches inventions from IIT Delhi's labs with startups or industry, with recent deep-tech programmes in clean energy, mobility, defence, aerospace, and cybersecurity.
Its portfolio includes BotLab Dynamics, known for drone light shows seen on Republic Day, Chakr Innovation in pollution capture, Synergy Quantum in quantum-safe cryptography, Vizara Technologies in semiconductor design, and KritiKal Solutions, with the acquisition of Sharang Shakti by LAT Aerospace in February 2026 marking a notable exit. Founders building deep-tech, hardware, clean energy, mobility, defence, aerospace, electronics, and cybersecurity startups benefit most; IIT Delhi students, researchers, and alumni get priority, though external founders can apply, and the New Delhi location suits govtech, defence-tech, and enterprise startups that need institutional relationships alongside technical depth. It is online at fitt-iitd.in.
