Its main instruments are the recognition scheme itself, the Fund of Funds for Startups with a Rs. 10,000 crore corpus deployed through 120-plus SEBI-registered AIFs, the Startup India Seed Fund Scheme offering up to Rs. 50 lakh through eligible incubators, and the Credit Guarantee Scheme providing collateral-free debt of up to Rs. 10 crore, supported by the Startup India Hub, the annual State Startup Ranking, and the National Startup Awards.
Recognition is open to any private limited company, partnership firm, or LLP under ten years old with annual turnover below Rs. 100 crore, so effectively every Indian startup can benefit, while the Fund of Funds has anchored billions in private venture capital and the Seed Fund Scheme delivers early capital through approved incubators. Since 2016 the count has grown from a few thousand to nearly two lakh recognised startups, reflecting how thoroughly DPIIT has reshaped the landscape. It is online at startupindia.gov.in.
