About 100X.VC
Headquartered in Mumbai and launched in 2019, 100X.VC is a SEBI-registered Category I Alternative Investment Fund founded by Sanjay Mehta with Ninad Karpe, and led by CEO Vatsal Kanakiya. Its defining contribution was bringing India SAFE Notes to the local ecosystem: a streamlined funding agreement that trims legal back-and-forth so founders can raise capital faster. Backed by sponsor Mehta Ventures, the firm invests Rs. 1.25 crore (about $150,000) in each company for a 15% future-equity stake.
Investments are made in batches rather than one-off deals. More than 10,000 startups apply every year, and the fund has so far put capital and guidance behind 180+ companies across 12 cohorts, supporting over 400 founders. Two cohorts run annually, each selecting 15 to 20 startups; Vodex.ai and Cellarim Labs are among its better-known portfolio names.
The SAFE Note approach reshaped how early cheques get written in India. Seed rounds here once meant drawn-out negotiations and dense term sheets, so standardising the instrument and running an open, batch-based selection opened the door to founders who lacked investor contacts. A 100X.VC cheque now also works as a credibility marker, and several portfolio companies have gone on to close larger follow-on rounds.
Selected founders receive more than money: hands-on mentoring from the partner network, a peer community of fellow founders, and structured preparation for the next raise. A scouting arm, Superscout, taps the wider network to surface deals from across the country, and the fund stays active in the Startup India programme through founder events and workshops.
Because cheques are sector-agnostic, both technology and non-technology businesses at the pre-seed or seed stage can apply from anywhere in India.
