About this scheme
NIDHI PRAYAS Cycle 4 at TIDES is part of DST's NIDHI-PRAYAS national scheme, Promoting and Accelerating Young and Aspiring Innovators & Startups, implemented through TIDES, the Technology Business Incubator at IIT Roorkee. The program provides grants of up to Rs. 10 lakhs to idea-stage innovators who need funding specifically to develop a physical hardware prototype. Applicants must be Indian citizens aged 18 or above with an innovative product-based concept.
Selected innovators receive prototype development funding, access to TIDES laboratories and equipment, mentorship from experienced professionals, co-working space within the IIT Roorkee campus, and assistance with business development, IP management, and legal compliance. Priority technology areas include manufacturing, agriculture, healthcare, clean-tech, energy, water, AI/ML, and IoT. The program is fully funded by the Department of Science & Technology, Government of India.
Who can apply
- Applicant must be an Indian Citizen with a valid government-approved proof of nationality such as a passport or voter's ID card. Dual citizens or foreign nationals are not eligible.
- Applicant must be at least 18 years of age on the date of application submission.
- The proposed innovation must involve the development of a physical product , purely software-only or service-based ideas are not within scope of this program.
- The idea must be at the prototype-seeking stage, meaning the applicant requires funding specifically to build and validate a physical prototype of their concept.
- Priority sectors for this cycle include Manufacturing, Agriculture, Healthcare, Clean-tech, Energy, Water, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Internet of Things (IoT), and other advanced technology areas.
- Applicants are expected to apply as individual innovators; the program is not restricted to incorporated companies.
- Applications are open to innovators across India with no state-specific restriction. TIDES IITR will evaluate submissions for technical merit, innovation potential, and the feasibility of the proposed prototype development plan.
