FinTech program for IITK UG students, offering grants up to Rs. 6 lakh and mentorship.
About this scheme
The IITK FinTech Spark Program is a flagship initiative by the Startup Incubation and Innovation Centre (SIIC) at IIT Kanpur, designed to guide innovators from ideas to market-ready solutions within FinTech. SIIC IIT Kanpur, an integral part of the Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur, is a leading technology business incubator that fosters student innovation and entrepreneurship, supporting ventures that address real-world challenges. With a robust track record of nurturing over 200 startups and facilitating significant funding, SIIC strengthens India's startup ecosystem. This program specifically underscores the institution's commitment to cultivating cutting-edge solutions from its student body, leveraging their academic prowess and entrepreneurial spirit.
The program focuses specifically on the FinTech domain, a rapidly evolving sector critical for India's digital economy and financial inclusion. It addresses high-impact problems in areas like digital payments, lending, RegTech, cybersecurity, and financial inclusion. Participants are encouraged to develop solutions where relevance meets significant market opportunities, aiming for maximum impact, scalability, and disruptive potential within financial technology. The goal is to move beyond theoretical concepts and create tangible products that can revolutionize the financial landscape.
Financial support is provided as a grant-in-aid, offering up to Rs. 6 lakh. This crucial funding equips student teams with the necessary resources to advance their FinTech concepts, build prototypes, and conduct initial market validation. The grant acts as a catalyst, enabling teams to move beyond theoretical frameworks and build tangible, impactful solutions for the FinTech industry, covering costs for development, testing, and initial user feedback.
Complementing monetary aid, the program offers comprehensive non-monetary support. This includes structured mentorship from domain experts, including seasoned entrepreneurs, FinTech industry leaders, and IIT Kanpur faculty, who provide invaluable technical, business, and strategic guidance. Teams gain crucial exposure to real-world FinTech problems and industry insights, ensuring solutions are practically grounded and market-ready. A clear pathway to full incubation at SIIC IIT Kanpur is also provided, offering continued infrastructure, resources, legal and IP support, networking opportunities, and ecosystem access for sustained growth and commercialization.
