About this scheme
The Greenovation Urban Climate Resilience Challenge is a national challenge for early-stage innovators building scalable solutions to India's urban climate crisis. Run jointly by EarthON Foundation and Greenovation Hub, and supported by Startup India and DPIIT, it targets five problem areas: heat and built environment, air and waste systems, livelihoods and health, water and food, and climate data and finance.
Winners receive up to Rs. 20 lakh in non-dilutive catalytic funding, disbursed against milestones to support implementation and early scaling. Beyond the cash award, selected teams access a 3-day residential bootcamp covering design thinking, business models, and impact pitching , followed by direct exposure to policymakers, investors, and city-level decision-makers across India.
High-potential participants may be invited into the EarthON Gurukul incubation programme, which includes mentorship, operational support, and access to the EarthON Fund for potential equity or debt investment of up to Rs. 1 crore.
The challenge is designed for founders building in , not just for , Indian cities, and prioritises solutions that are affordable, contextually grounded, and ready to demonstrate real-world impact across urban and peri-urban settings.
Who can apply
- Startups and social entrepreneurs at prototype, pilot, or market-ready stage
- Founders must be committed full-time to the proposed solution
- Company must have been incorporated within the last 10 years
- Solution must address one of the five defined urban climate themes: heat and built environment, air/mobility/waste, livelihoods/health/inclusion, water/food systems, or data and finance
- Solution must be applicable to the Indian urban context
