About this scheme
The Gramam Thorum Puthozhil Scheme is a flagship initiative of the Government of Tamil Nadu implemented through StartupTN and TANSIM to foster rural innovation and grassroots entrepreneurship.
The scheme aims to create startups in selected villages across Tamil Nadu by enabling aspiring entrepreneurs to transform village-based ideas into viable and sustainable businesses. It focuses on inclusive entrepreneurship, rural innovation, and local economic development.
Selected startups receive equity-free seed funding under TANSEED along with structured incubation, mentoring, and capacity-building support through StartupTN Regional Hubs. The program also strengthens startup readiness for other government schemes such as TANSEED and IVP while activating Gram Panchayats as centers of innovation-led growth.
Who can apply
- Applicants must be startups or aspiring entrepreneurs based in villages across Tamil Nadu.
- The scheme encourages participation from women entrepreneurs, SC/ST communities, differently-abled individuals, and rural youth.
- Startups are shortlisted based on innovation potential, social relevance, and feasibility.
- Eligibility for the equity-free seed grant is subject to TANSEED criteria and recommendation by the designated Evaluation Committee.
- Selected startups are required to participate in mandatory capacity-building, orientation, and incubation programs conducted through StartupTN Regional Hubs.
