About this scheme
The BIG scheme supports ideation to Proof of Concept, nurturing entrepreneurship to enable translation of ideas into commercially viable products/technologies to address unmet needs in the biotechnology sector. It aims to enable the Biotech Startup Ecosystem in the country to become globally competitive.
Who can apply
- - **Individual:** Indian citizen, Project Leader, must be incubated in an incubator (LoI/MoU required).
- NOC from employer/institution if employed/student.
- Undertaking to terminate current association for full-time project work if grant approved.
- Must not be a promoter/shareholder of an existing biotech company (can apply through company route).\n- **Company/LLP:** Registered under Indian Companies Act, 1956/2013.
- Incorporation date not earlier than 5 years from BIG call closing date.
- Minimum 51% Indian ownership.
- Must have a Project Leader and in-house R&D facility or be incubated.
- Promoters/partners with significant stake in other ineligible entities may not be eligible.
