The APEDA Act, 1985 is the legislation enacted by the Indian Parliament to establish the Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority. The Act empowers APEDA to promote the development and export of scheduled products, set standards and specifications, carry out inspections, improve packaging, and provide financial assistance to exporters. It replaced the Processed Food Export Promotion Council and expanded the scope to cover a wider range of agricultural products.
